Renolin 500 is a family of air and gas compressor oils formulated for piston (reciprocating) and rotary compressors.
It is based on highly refined mineral base oils plus an additive system suited to high thermal stresses.
Meets DIN 51 506-VDL specification.
Renolin 500 comes in a range of ISO viscosity grades. Some of the commonly available ones are:
VG 46
VG 68
VG 100
VG 150
Also product codes like Renolin 503, 504, 505 correspond to different viscosity grades.
Piston (reciprocating) air compressors, especially where discharge temperatures are high. fuchs.com+1
Rotary compressors of air or gas (including natural gas, propane) where similar performance under thermal stress is required. fuchs.com+1
Situations where oil carries air, moisture, or where water separation is required; also where minimizing oil loss and deposit formation matters.
Pros:
Reliable in high temperature duty; better than basic compressor oils.
Lower maintenance: fewer deposits, less foaming, lower evaporation.
Broad applicability: various ISO grades let you match to machinery.
Limitations / What to Check:
Always check compressor OEM for compatibility and recommended oil viscosity, especially discharge temperature & oil sump temp.
Since these are mineral oils with additives, they may be less environmentally benign than synthetic or biodegradable oils.
Change intervals still depend heavily on duty, contamination (ingress of moisture, particulates), and thermal load.
If switching from a different oil type, make sure prior residues won’t adversely affect the performance (cleaning, flushing may be needed).
