The Renolin Therm series are heat transfer / thermal oils, both mineral and synthetic-hydrocarbon based.
They are designed for closed, un-pressurized systems (forced circulation) where stable heat transfer is needed under moderate to high temperature.
This is one of the grades in the Therm series. Key features:
Based on highly refined mineral/paraffinic base oils.
Very good resistance to oxidation and ageing (thermal breakdown) so less tendency to form deposits / coke in heat exchangers or piping.
Suitable for use up to about +300 °C (bulk temperature) in closed, forced circulation heat transfer systems.
Typical uses for Therm 300 / Therm Series include:
Heat transfer systems (closed loop, forced circulation) for indirect heating.
Reactors, distillation systems, dryers, processing machines.
Systems where the bulk working temperature is up to ~ 300 °C; surface film / piping may see higher temps, so material compatibility and thermal control are important.
Make sure film/surface temperatures do not exceed the oil’s allowable film temperature, even if bulk is okay. High film temperatures cause faster oxidation and deposit formation. (Therm 320 specsheet notes film temp up to ~320 °C).
Ensure pumpability / viscosity compatibility at lowest ambient or startup temps, because Therm 300 has pour point around -9 °C; in colder conditions it may thicken or need preheating.
Good sealing material compatibility. Mineral heat transfer oils can affect some seal / gasket materials over long use.
Maintenance: periodic checks for oxidation products, viscosity drift, carbon deposit buildup, in order to avoid drop in heat transfer efficiency.
